Statue restoration and relocation
The marble female statue of L. Vimercati (1880) preserved in Villa Mia was the subject of a three-dimensional relief with laser-scanner 3D aimed at hypothesizing the form and posture of missing anatomies through biometric studies. These studies allowed the virtual modeling of the missing anatomical parts and their prototyping in polymeric material prior to the subsequent marble reconstruction of the part.
This highly innovative solution has rarely been used in the restoration and never in the recomposition of statue anatomies, at present these techniques have been applied only in study yards for the solution of other problems.
